Deep Tissue Massage
Slow, specific pressure into the muscles that actually hold your tension — desk shoulders, trained legs, a back that’s been carrying the week.
01 · WHAT IT IS
What it is.
Deep tissue is not a relaxing massage done harder. It’s a different technique: slow strokes and sustained pressure that work into the deeper layers of muscle, following the direction of the fibres rather than sweeping over them. Forearms and elbows do the work fingertips can’t.
Choose 40 minutes for one problem area — usually the desk-work triangle of neck, shoulders and upper back — or 1 hour 10 for the full body. Both durations book through the same Fresha service; you pick the option inside.
Deep never means gritted teeth. Pressure is agreed before we start and adjusted throughout — productive discomfort is the ceiling, and you set it. Expect to feel worked the next day, the way you do after honest training. That eases within 24 to 48 hours.
02 · WHY IT WORKS
Why clients choose it.
Built for desk shoulders.
Hours at a screen load the neck, traps and upper back. The 40-minute session goes exactly where those hours accumulate.
Training recovery.
Slow, deep work into legs, glutes and back the day after a heavy session — tightness eased before it becomes a pattern.
Pressure you control.
Agreed at the start, adjusted every time you say a word. Nothing here is endured in silence.
Technique, not force.
Slow strokes along the muscle fibre, layer by layer. Depth comes from angle and patience, not from pressing harder.
Two honest durations.
40 minutes for one area, 1 hour 10 for the full body. No padded add-ons in between.
Courses priced kindly.
Coming regularly? Courses of 3, 6 and 10 sessions cost less than booking one by one.
03 · YOUR VISIT
Your visit, step by step.
Consultation.
Where it's tight, what your days look like, how you like pressure. Two minutes that shape the whole session.
Preparation.
A quiet room, warm oil, undress to your comfort — you're securely draped throughout.
The massage.
Surface layers warmed first, then the slow, deep work — along the fibre, with check-ins at every change of depth.
Aftercare.
Water, warmth, gentle movement. Skip max-effort training that evening; a next-day ache like a good workout is normal.
04 · PRICES
Prices.
Both durations book through the same Fresha service — choose 40m or 1h 10m inside. Courses of 3, 6 and 10 sessions are on the Packages page.
05 · GOOD TO KNOW
Questions, answered.
It shouldn't. Deep work sits at 'productive discomfort' — the good ache of a muscle finally being reached — and never beyond what you've agreed. Say one word and the pressure changes.
One stubborn area — usually neck, shoulders and upper back — wants the 40 minutes, worked thoroughly. Tension in more than one place, or a training-heavy week, wants the full 1 hour 10.
It depends on what's loading you. Desk tension usually holds well at every three to four weeks; heavy training blocks may want more. We'll give you an honest rhythm after the first session — that's what the courses are for.
If the goal is to switch off, book our Relaxing Wellness Massage instead — it's built for that. Deep tissue is for specific, stubborn tension that lighter work glides over.
Drink water, keep moving gently, take a warm shower rather than a cold one. Feeling slightly worked the next day is normal and settles within 24 to 48 hours.
Often yes, with the pressure set accordingly — tell us at the consultation. If you have a circulatory condition or are on blood thinners, check with your GP before booking.
